In June 2011, a group of Sephardic Language and Literature specialists met in Vienna to discuss the importance of Vienna to Oriental and Occidental Sephardim.

Many subjects were examined, including the Sephardic language and its evolution in Vienna, the influence of German and Balkan languages on Judeo-Spanish in Vienna, the Sephardic press.

This book, whose articles are written in English, Spanish, French, German and Judeo-Spanish, depicts the open-minded Sephardic society in the heart of Europe in the last two centuries, It is divided into five sections, reflecting its interdisciplinary character:
